about

The title KPushkin doesn’t really mean anything. It’s just the association of the Russian preposition “K” (which means “To”) and the surname of Russian poet Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin.

The Russian lyrics of this song are in fact inspired by the first lines of A.S. Pushkin’s most famous ode “K***” (To…), which basically every Russian is familiar with.

K***

KPushkin

K***

I recall the marvellous moment
As before my eyes you appeared,
Like a fleeting vision,
Like a spirit of pure beauty.

In the torments of hopeless gloom,
In the tumults of noisy hurrying,
That voice tenderly kept ringing out to me,
I dreamt about those beloved features.

KPushkin

I recall the Russian moment
As your voice rang out
Like an enchanting song
As though a God stood there behind me.

And I remember “Da” and “Do Svidanija”
The slavic laughter, the verbal kisses,
The empty cab and the striking of the hours
The clear sound of your steps.

lyrics

Isn’t it funny?
When we first met
We waved goodbye to one another.
Our lives went on as nothing had happened
But if I close my eyes
Sometimes I hear the Russian bells,
And in my heart the words
I understand though I won’t repeat I find.
